Position Overview:

G&L Corporation is seeking an experienced and organized Shop Manager to oversee daily operations of the equipment and maintenance shop. This role is responsible for managing mechanics, coordinating preventive maintenance and repairs, prioritizing equipment readiness for upcoming projects, and maintaining a safe and efficient shop environment. The Shop Manager works closely with logistics, project management, and field leadership to ensure trailers, forklifts, and support equipment are staged and ready to meet project demands.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage day-to-day shop operations, including scheduling and assigning work to mechanics and shop personnel.
• Plan and oversee preventive maintenance programs for trailers, forklifts, and support equipment.
• Coordinate repairs on OTR trailers (step decks, double drops, flats, multi-axle, modular), forklifts, fleet vehicles, and hydraulic systems.
• Track equipment condition, maintenance schedules, and repair timelines to support accurate project planning.
• Prioritize work based on upcoming projects, equipment availability, and operational urgency.
• Communicate equipment status and readiness to logistics, project managers, and field supervision.
• Maintain shop organization, cleanliness, tooling, and parts inventory.
• Manage tooling and shop inventory needs, including identifying requirements, coordinating purchasing, and maintaining appropriate stock levels to support operations.
• Enforce company safety policies and ensure compliance with OSHA and DOT standards within the shop.
• Support field operations by coordinating mobile or emergency repairs as needed.
• Assist with equipment inspections, documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Provide backup support for project scheduling and resource coordination as needed to maintain continuity of operations.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience managing a maintenance shop or supervising mechanics and technicians.
• Strong mechanical knowledge of OTR trailers, forklifts, hydraulic systems, and heavy equipment.
• Experience implementing and managing preventive maintenance programs.
• Ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Comfortable coordinating across logistics, field operations, and management teams.
• Valid driver’s license required; CDL preferred but not required.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or certifications preferred.
