Position Overview:
G&L Corporation is seeking a skilled Mechanic to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair our fleet of heavy-haul equipment including OTR trailers (step decks, double drops, flats, multi-axle configurations), forklifts, and related systems. This role will perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and field repairs to ensure equipment reliability and safety. The ideal candidate has experience with heavy trailers, hydraulic systems, electrical and mechanical systems, and a commitment to high quality workmanship.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspect, service, and maintain heavy trailers including step decks, double drops, flats, and multi-axle configurations.
- Perform preventive maintenance tasks such as lubricating moving parts, checking fluid levels, inspecting brakes, lights, suspension, and ensuring safe operation.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on trailers and support equipment, including forklifts.
- Conduct repairs on hydraulic components, brake systems, axles, lighting, suspension, and other key systems.
- Travel with crews or to job sites as needed to provide field repairs and support.
- Use diagnostic tools and manufacturer systems to identify faults and determine repair strategies.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance, inspection results, and repairs performed.
- Ensure efficient staging and readiness of equipment prior to transport and project deployment.
- Communicate equipment status and recommendations to supervisors and fleet managers.
- Adhere to all company, regulatory, and safety standards while performing work.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience performing maintenance and repairs on heavy trailers, hydraulics, and related systems.
- Familiarity with OTR trailer types (step decks, double drops, flats, multi-axle) and support equipment such as forklifts.
- Strong mechanical and diagnostic skills with experience in hydraulic and electrical systems.
- Ability to travel for field support and on-site repairs based on project needs.
- Valid driver’s license; CDL preferred but not required.
- Ability to lift heavy parts, work in shop and field environments, and handle tools and diagnostic equipment safely.
- Effective communication skills and commitment to teamwork.
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification preferred.
