Position Overview:

G&L Corporation is seeking a skilled and motivated Mechanical Engineer to support the design, development, and estimating of mechanical and HVAC systems for both design-build and plan/spec projects. This role plays an important part in delivering practical, high-quality solutions for industrial, commercial, food processing, municipal, and institutional facilities. The Mechanical Engineer will work closely with internal teams, customers, vendors, and subcontractors to support successful project execution from concept through completion.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and develop mechanical and HVAC systems, components, and equipment based on project requirements, industry standards, and customer needs.
• Prepare detailed 2D layouts, 3D models, and P&ID / flow diagram drawings using CAD software and related engineering tools.
• Develop base bid estimates using QuickPen, Autobid, and support project budgeting through cost analysis and scope review.
• Perform industry-standard calculations to support system performance, reliability, safety, and overall design integrity.
• Conduct feasibility reviews, cost evaluations, and risk assessments for proposed projects and design solutions.
• Coordinate with project managers, engineers, customers, vendors, and subcontractors to support efficient project planning and execution.
• Provide technical support during manufacturing, installation, startup, and commissioning, and assist in resolving design-related issues in the field.
• Maintain working knowledge of applicable industry standards, codes, and regulations related to mechanical system design and construction.
• Support continuous improvement by staying current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in mechanical engineering.
• Help ensure projects are delivered with quality, accuracy, and accountability while meeting schedule and budget expectations.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field required.
• 5+ years of experience in mechanical engineering, preferably in construction, industrial, or related project-based environments.
• Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD or similar design tools.
• Experience with mechanical and HVAC system design, estimating, and technical drawing development.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage priorities and contribute effectively in a deadline-driven environment.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across departments and with external partners.
• Working knowledge of industry standards, codes, and regulations applicable to mechanical engineering and construction.
