Position Overview:
G&L Corporation is seeking a knowledgeable and dependable Modular Trailer Mechanic to support our specialized transport and heavy haul operations. This role is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing modular hydraulic platform trailers (such as Goldhofer systems), including power packs, hydraulic components, electrical systems, and structural elements. The Modular Trailer Mechanic will also travel with crews during transport projects to provide field support, ensuring equipment remains fully operational throughout mobilization, transit, and demobilization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine and preventive maintenance on modular hydraulic platform trailers, power packs, and related components.
- Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic, mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
- Inspect trailers before and after transport operations to identify wear, damage, or performance issues.
- Support crews during heavy haul transports by traveling to job sites and providing on-the-spot diagnostic and repair services when needed.
- Assist with equipment setup, configuration, and testing prior to loading and movement of oversized loads.
- Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance, repairs, and inspections.
- Collaborate with operators, project managers, and field supervisors to ensure equipment readiness and safe operation.
- Ensure compliance with company safety standards, DOT guidelines, and manufacturer specifications.
- Participate in safety meetings and ongoing technical training.
Qualifications:
- Mechanical experience working with heavy equipment, hydraulic systems, or specialized trailers.
- Strong diagnostic skills and the ability to troubleshoot hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical issues.
- Familiarity with modular and hydraulic platform trailers (e.g., Goldhofer, Faymonville, etc.) preferred but not required for strong candidates.
- Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals, schematics, and technical documentation.
- Willingness to travel with crews for extended periods based on project requirements.
- Ability to lift, carry, and work with tools and components in field conditions.
- Valid driver’s license required; CDL preferred but not mandatory.
- Effective communication skills and a commitment to safety.
